Scholarship Application Process Now Closed

 

The Foundation Scholarship program was established in recognition of the need to promote excellence in Forensic Nursing through the support of global information sharing and networking. The Scholarship Program is designed to provide financial assistance for members and other forensic nurses from around the world who might otherwise be unable to attend the organization’s annual International Conference on Forensic Nursing Science and Practice. 

Who May Apply? 

  • All Forensic Nurses

  • Applicants who have been IAFN members for a minimum of twelve (12) months immediately preceding the application deadline may apply directly 

  • All other applicants, including those who are non-members, must be sponsored by a current member

What is the Award? (Updated March 7, 2017)

Tiered Scholarships may be offered each year which will consist of the following:

  • Tier 1: International Scholarship awarded to an applicant outside of North America. Scholarship includes: Registration Fee for the annual International Conference on Forensic Nursing Science and Practice, shared lodging for up to four nights during the annual conference plus a $500.00 stipend to be used to offset travel expenses for the period of the International Conference on Forensic Nursing Science and Practice.

  • Tier 2: North America Scholarship awarded to an applicant residing in North America. Scholarship includes: Registration Fee for the annual International Conference on Forensic Nursing Science and Practice and up to four nights of shared lodging during the annual conference.

Shared lodging is defined as accommodations shared by two scholarship recipient’s attending the annual conference. Accommodations will include either two double or two queen beds in a hotel where the conference is being held or its equivalent. 

  • The candidate(s) chosen to attend the Conference will be assigned an appropriate mentor as indicated to help them achieve any forensic nursing education goals they may have expressed. Non-members who receive awards will be mentored by their sponsor or the sponsor’s designee.

  • Demonstrate financial need

  • Briefly explain your area of practice/expertise and the benefits you, your community, and The Association will gain from your attendance at the Annual Conference
